The children are now developing skills in working with money, communicating with others and in food preparation & hygiene during our twice-weekly Toast Club. The children chose the name Galaxy Toast and made posters to let people know when we are open for orders.

We began by practising collecting orders and working out change from 50p and £1. The children were keen to offer different toppings - honey is a favourite! Every Tuesday and Wednesday children work in pairs to collect orders and payments, make toast and deliver it to our customers. It is very popular within the Language Unit and with the Nurture Group as well as some of the adults. It is also an ideal opportunity for the children to apply their maths skills as it involves money, a little information handling and also basic budgeting. We are now using the money we make to pay for new foodstuffs and even had enough to purchase some resources for our science work on microbes.
